I was wondering if anyone has used Amitriptyline for IBS? … I used to take it in varying doses, … I’m on the Amitriptyline now and so far it is working …User Reviews for Amitriptyline. … I upped my dose to an extra 10mg in the morning, … (IBS) Drugs.com Health Center.19.05.2016 · I have come off amitriptyline and my IBS symptoms have reappeared. … my Doctor decided to try amitriptyline (only a 10mg dose). The reason for starting the morning dose was that if I am in any way wound up, including positive things like being excited about going on holiday, the IBS would get much worse. The night time dose on its own was not helping, so it’s the morning dose that really helps my IBS. Between the Amitriptyline and the FODMAP diet, I rarely have a problem now.I’ve read on this site that amitriptyline works well for some people with IBS-D. I’ve tried it at both 10mg and 20mg, but neither had any effect. I’m wondering if any of you, for whom it’s beneficial, perhaps take it at a higher dose and at what time of day you take it.I take Amitriptyline for IBS occasionally when my symptoms are particularly bad. I get acute diarhoa and as soon as I awake my bowel goes into spasm. The quicker I have to move in the morning the worse it will be. It will wake me in the night too. 10mg will slow it down enormously. Kristy (Australia) Amazing! Ibs-d sufferer for 10 years. -
